Mitac 8060
Tips and tricks to optimize Linux Mandrake on Mitac 8060 notebooks (sold by www.storever.com)
Basic InstallationThe installation procedure went flawlessly using Mandrake 9.2. The only somehow difficult part is installing XFree86 with 1280x854 resolution and setting up the NVidia driver. However, basic installation ends up with VESA display in 1024x768 which provides a usable start point. What worksHere is a list of working features tested on Mandrake 9.2. Graphic AdapterWorks well with NVidia drivers. SoundSound output works fine with snd-intel8x0 module. Full duplex needs to be confirmed. Alsa needs to be confirmed. EthernetWorks fine with 8139too module. USB 2.0Works well with usb-uhci/ehci-hcd. No problem to connect scanner, webcam etc. Connected USB2.0 CD-R and experienced high speed transfers. FireWireRecognized by system. Needs to be confirmed. IDEDMA mode works fine. ModemWorks fine with slmdm-2.7.10 (not other versions). Able to send faxes and connect to PPP. ParallelParallel port tests with Epson printer. Works fine. IRDASucceeded in using IRDA once. However, some IRQ conflicts appeared with 802.11b PCMCIA card.
